The Nomada on the lower road past the airport as you head towards town is a new restaurant serving Western fare.

If you like Chinese food, there are several restaurants on the lower road, which cater to foreigners. The quality can vary. That part of town also has has a reputation for prostitution, which is illegal in Mauritania.

As Nouadhibou is gifted with a big commercial fishing and traditional fishing port, there is a lot of fresh seafood and fish available. Many immigrants from Senegal run their restaurants here, serving fish with rice and other delicious meals. Average price is 200-500 ougiyas. Madame Souware's restaurant is a fine example. Go to Robinet 3, on the same building as the large mosque on the left. Lunch is served between 13:30 and 15:00. A plate is 250 ougiyas. More formal and expensive restaurants:

Casa Canaria

The Casa Canaria, a Spanish restaurant, is on the lower road past the airport and across from the Globale bus station.

FC Nouadhibou

If you like to watch football matches while you eat, the FC Nouadhibou restaurant serves hamburgers, French fries and other hot sandwiches in front of several large TV screens. It's between the second and third robinets on the middle road.

La Paillotte

One of the current hot spots to eat out is the Italian restaurant, La Paillotte, on the lower road which has a new Spanish chef. The average entree is 2,000 ougiyas.

Pleine de Lune

Serves small snacks, cakes, pastries, mini pizzas, meat rolls and sandwiches. it's across the street from the central down town police station commissariat central and the oryx gas station. a chicken sandwich is 700 ougiyas. the camping baie du lã©vrier is a stone's throw away.
